# An AI website assistant that cannot invent a price

A chat widget on a client's site that answers questions and takes the caller's
name and number, day or night. The differentiator is not what it can say — it is
what it is structurally unable to say.

Optional bolt-on, from £49/mo, **off unless the client asks for it**.

## What it does

- Answers questions about that one business: services, area covered, location, how to reach them.
- Tells a visitor whether the business is open **right now**, by checking the real UK time against the listed opening hours.
- Takes a name and phone number and logs the enquiry, so the lead is held rather than lost.
- Takes a booking **request** — the day wanted, with contact details — into the owner's diary as something to ring back about.
- Tells anyone describing an emergency to stop typing and call.

## What it cannot do, by construction

- **Cannot invent a price.** It may repeat a line from the owner's own confirmed price list *word for word*, and must repeat the conditions with the figure. It may not price an unlisted job, add two jobs together, estimate a total, put a number on "POA", or turn "from £89" into "£89". With no price list it says it cannot quote and offers a callback.
- **Cannot confirm a booking.** It has no view of the diary. It logs a request and says the owner will ring to agree the time. It is not permitted to tell anyone they are booked in.
- **Cannot promise a timeframe or that a job can be done.** Anything quote-shaped becomes "the owner will confirm — can I take your number?"
- **Cannot guess opening hours.** If the listed hours do not clearly cover the moment asked about, it says it is not certain rather than picking an answer. Out of hours it says so plainly and never implies someone is reading the message now.
- **Cannot invent services, qualifications or facts.** The supplied business facts are the only facts it may state, and it declines anything not about that business.

## Clinics: free text is never stored

A text box invites a visitor to volunteer a symptom, condition or medication.
Under UK GDPR that is special-category health data the moment it lands in an
inbox, usually with no lawful basis; a named treatment is often a
prescription-only medicine as well.

For aesthetics and injectables clinics the free text is therefore **not stored at
all** — not filtered against a word list, which is always one phrasing behind,
but dropped and replaced with a note to call the enquirer back. Name and number
are what a callback needs. It is structural, not a setting.

## How it is built

One engine behind every client site, built on Anthropic's Claude. The business's
facts — services, hours, area, contact details, and the price list if supplied —
go directly into the assistant's instructions. No document upload, no training
run, no per-client code. Conversations are capped in length and every rule above
is enforced server-side, not in the browser.

## When it is the wrong answer

It earns its keep for a business fielding a lot of repeat questions while missing
calls doing the actual work. For a business with few, complicated enquiries the
missed-call text-back included in the standard plan does more and costs nothing
extra — we say so rather than sell the bolt-on.
